Terrible WEEDS! WeedFoe

What is WeedFoe?

Weedfoe is our solution to problem weeds, when they are present and when they are “hiding”.

Weeds and pre-emergent applications

Unwanted vegetation in planting areas (beds), gravel, or invasive species such as blackberries are targeted while keeping favorable plantings intact. Pre-emergent herbicides are the most effective at managing weed growth, and the primary focus of our WeedFoe program. It is important to have consistent pre-emergent applications regardless of the presence of visible weeds. This will help suppress weeds prior to germination. We use a combination of products that provide up to four months of suppression but we cannot guarantee weed-free conditions.

The Process of using our Weedfoe

To activate the pre-emergence component of our WeedFoe program, we may ask you to water the treated area if rainfall or irrigation would not be sufficient to activate the products. In treated areas where drip irrigation is installed, a good overhead soaking is recommended to ensure the activation of the product when we are in the dry season. Existing weeds are managed with post-emergent products and rain fast when dry, usually within 30 minutes.

If existing weeds have been treated, expect to see some visible signs of decline within 7-10 days in average weather, and longer in cooler weather. Feel free to plant already-rooted plants in your landscape (seeds planted after we treat will not germinate). With our WeedFoe program, most common landscape weeds can be managed, but not all weeds respond to the preventive approach. If your landscape has resistant species or outbreaks occur in between services, removal by the property owner or additional applications may be recommended to manage them, which will mean additional charges. We cannot guarantee weed-free conditions.

Many factors promote weed germination (dog digging and saturation or over-watering are some). We will gladly discuss any specific concerns you may have regarding your problem areas.

Some of the Toughest Weeds around the south sound area (Olympia, Wa, Thurston County, etc,) to Get Rid of are:

Willow Herb, Horsetail, Tree Seedlings, Blackberries, Ivey, Other Invasive Species, Bittercress, and Liverwort. We will go over them in more detail in another blog post.
